Mummy MOT FAQ's

How soon can I have a Mummy MOT postnatally?

It is recommended that you wait until you are 6-8 weeks postnatal before you have a full assessment. If you have any concerns prior to this, a virtual session may help to give advice and ensure you are on the right track.

Can I have a Mummy MOT if I had a caesarean section?

Yes! Being pregnant, hormones and posture can all effect the pelvic floor muscles which can lead to dysfunction if not addressed.

I had my baby years ago. Can I still have a Mummy MOT?

Absolutely! The Mummy MOT is for all women who have given birth. The sooner you make an appointment, the sooner your symptoms and issues will be alleviated. But, It's never to late to start looking after your pelvic health!

Will I be expected to remove my clothes?

The Mummy MOT involves an internal pelvic floor exam. I will explain the procedure to you thoroughly and you will be asked to give verbal informed consent. You will need to remove clothing from the waist down for this part of the assessment but will be covered with a towel. You can of course opt out of this part of the assessment or change your mind at any time.

Do I need to do anything prior to the session?

After confirming your booking, you will be sent a pre-screen questionnaire. It is really helpful if you could complete this prior to your session so we can discuss it at the start, but please don’t stress! I understand how busy postpartum life can be.
